Christian Kretschmar specialises in urban travel photography. His pictures present urban details, faces, structures abandoned by civilisation, and mix periods and civilisations.
As an itinerant photographer, Christian Kretschmar searches for the artificial and involuntary beauty of cities and landscapes around the world. An abandoned car park, an unexpected view on the horizon, or simply an old brothel in Greece: functionality that becomes beauty, coincidence that turns into a visual attraction.
Christian Kretschmar was born in 1968. From the age of 12, he studied at the Detmold music school in Germany. Based in Paris and Hamburg, he has worked around the world as a freelance photographer and musician for twenty-five years.
